Nicola Jansen, a junior at New Mexico representing South Africa, placed second in the NCAA Division 1 Mountain Regional by covering the 6-kilometer layout in 19:25.1 at the Chaparral Ridge Cross Country Course at Lubbock Christian in Texas. Jansen earned her first career individual berth to compete Nov. 18 at the Division 1 championship meet, but New Mexico is expected to have its streak of 15 consecutive NCAA finals appearances halted after securing seventh place with 178 points.
